What happened in 2024 Part lll
Hello and welcome back to a very very long overdue blog post. Sadly work life commitments do take a lot of my time. I do appreciate the support from everyone when it comes to me writing these blogs. I do try my best to keep these as engaging as I can while not making it boring with a lot of words. Before you know it when I actually complete 2024 I am going to be writing about 2025, because this year has already been going very quick.
(As of writing this its currently the 1st April), So lets continue on with part lll of 2024.
We left off finishing in Oxford on a little getaway break, now I am heading off on a bit of a road trip to another car museum and also visiting a costal location with a beautiful lighthouse.
Cars in red
There was a list of car museums that I wanted to visit across the country and one of those was located in Yeovil (Somerset) called Hayes Motor Museum. So I took a road trip on my own for the day and headed down to Somerset to the museum.
The museum had a huge collection of beautiful cars that Beaulieu didn’t have and vice versa. There was the main centre piece which had a room full of red cars. Every single car in this massive room was red, it was very stunning to look at. I took my new Sigma 50mm ƒ1.4 to capture the details of the cars. Here is what I captured…
The iconic and stylish headlights of the E-Type Jaguar.
Date-24th June 2024
When exploring the museum you could get up and close with the cars especially the older cars. I loved capturing the inside interior of the cars.
Date-24th June 2024
Like most car museums I have visited there are usually some beautiful really old cars. These cars were what really took the motor industry to the next stage.

I love the different style of headlights that you find in both classic cars and also modern day cars. Most of the cars in this museum are on the classic variety. Having the prime lens of 50mm with that low aperture of ƒ1.4 means you can capture the details up close.
Date-24th June 2024
Date-24th June 2024
They had a vast range of classic cars from all over the world including American muscle cars like this beautiful Pontiac.
Date-24th June 2024
I was trying to teach myself even more angles/compositions of photos like this one above. I do love to capture symmetry which I tried more of throughout 2024.
Date-24th June 2024
Alongside headlights of cars I also liked capturing the backend of the cars with the taillights because there are so many beautiful style of taillights.
Date-24th June 2024
Nothing gets more stunning and looking aggressive like the back end of the Lamborghini Countach.
Date-24th June 2024
When being in a room like this that is well lit it can cause shadows where I don’t want it to be so it is about finding the rights angles to not cause a shadow on the car.
Date-24th June 2024
In my honest opinion one of the most beautiful cars to ever be made. The Ferrari 250 GT California is one of those cars that motor enthusiasts dream about. Any Ferrari should only come in one colour and that is the iconic Ferrari red.
Date-24th June 2024
Like the cars built back in the 1960s the beautiful wheel designs of the intertwined wheel spokes.
Date-24th June 2024
Included in the museum were also racing cars from different racing groups, like this Porsche 911. What really caught my eye was the headlight with the markings to block part of the headlight. Most of the time in the museum I was shooting at the lowest aperture of ƒ1.4 so I could get a nice bokeh effect to the photos.
Date-24th June 2024
Formula One has always been the sport I have watched since I was a child. I remember Saturdays and Sunday watching the qualifying and then the main race. I have always followed Lewis Hamilton all my life so as of 2025 he will be at Ferrari.
Date-24th June 2024
The pinnacle of British motoring the iconic Mini Cooper with the iconic small design made it such a popular car when it was sold back in the 1960s. I have always dreamed about having one of these cars so I could feel like i’m part of the Italian Job.
Date-24th June 2024
They had a dedicated Formula One part of the museum which housed many variants of Formula one cars and one that caught my eye was the one that had Canon branding on it, as I shoot with Canon I had to make sure I captured this.

Beautiful Lighthouse on the coast
After I left the museum I made a spontaneous decision to head to a costal area which I haven’t visited. I drove down to the beautiful costal town of Weymouth but drove through the town and headed to Portland Bill. This was a beautiful lighthouse which I have seen a few photos of so I decided I wanted to capture it for myself.
While I was driving toward the end of the costal road I headed up this high hill which at the top was a beautiful overview looking back at Weymouth. I was very fortunate to have very sunny weather and I was debating to stay for the sunset but I knew it would be a long time until the sun sets due to it being on the south coast.
Standing onto of the hill and looking back down at the beautiful costal town which has one direct road from one island to another.
Date-24th June 2024
I cracked out the amazing 70-200mm to zoom in on the rows of houses and to show how close these terrace houses are in this small town.
Date-24th June 2024
Weymouth was the host of the Sailing during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Located at the view location you’ll find the 5 rings in concrete as a maker of where part of the Olympics were held.
Date-24th June 2024
When I arrived at Portland Bill I was completely blown away by the beauty of this lighthouse. It was really calm with the sound of the waves and it not being very busy around the lighthouse. I spent a few hours just taking pictures and just having a reflective moment while I was there. It was definitely one of the most peaceful places I have ever visited.
Date-24th June 2024
I used the beautiful blue sky as the backdrop and wanted to single out the lighthouse. I was thinking about making it centre subject but decided to have it off centre of the frame.
Date-24th June 2024
Date-24th June 2024
While walking around the area of Portland Bill I looked back at the lighthouse and noticed this rock formation which I wanted to use for composition. In that composition I wanted to show the lighthouse coming out of the rock formation.

Being one of my favourite photos of 2024 and one of my favourite photos of all time, I loved the before edit and the after edit. I was able to wait to make sure there was no one in the shot because I wanted to have a ‘no person’ photo. In the photo you will also see the lines leading to the lighthouse.
Date-24th June 2024
Something that surprised me was this cute dog that was just standing on the wall. The house connected to the lighthouse houses people who live there. The dog was placed at the right point at the right time so he could be my subject with the beautiful lighthouse in the background.
Date-24th June 2024
There was plenty of seats and benches around so you could just sit down and relax. I noticed this lovely old couple just looking out to sea taking in the peace and quiet.
Date-24th June 2024
While walking across a field away from the lighthouse I noticed this beautiful pinky purple bush and I was hoping to find a gap in-between the bush so I could capture part of the lighthouse. I got lower down and found the right angle to have the lighthouse peep over the top.

Highway to the Danger Zone
We are back again to the biggest military airshow in the world. The Royal International Air Tattoo made its return again to the field at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. My brother and I headed for two days of action pack statics and flying displays. This year was celebrating 75 years of NATO and 50 years of the famous F-16 Fighting Falcon.
This year was going to be better than 2023 after the death of my Canon 80D which I sadly lost to the rain that we experienced. onto of that I got fixed my Sigma 150-600mm lens which meant I was able to get up and close to the displays from the ground.
No this plane doens’t have ears but it does have an air confining unit keeping the cockpit cool due to the hot sun beaming down on it. This is the beautiful King Air which the RAF use and I have beeb very lucky to have had a private flight in by the pilots at RAF Cranwell.
Date-19th July 2024
The Qatar Air Force send some of there Eurofighter Typhoons and there transport aircraft which is a C-17 which is sporting the Qatar airlines livery. I joked with my brother by saying would you get avios points if you fly on that aircraft…

Getting up and close to the beautiful Qatar C-17, it has to be one of my favourite aircraft liveries that isn’t a commercial aircraft. id love to fly on this every time from Heathrow, just imagine walking onto the back and sitting at the back and when your at a lower altitude they open the back door…

Search and rescue helicopter in the iconic orange and white livery. When I came to editing this photo I knew I wanted to make the orange a bit more vibrant as the RAW image looked very washed out.
Date-19th July 2024
One of my brothers favourite photo from the trip we came across the American section of the static displays and always there is a C-17 Globemaster. I found an angle which I caught part of the sun peaking through, I wanted to add a bit of a cinematic feel to the photo which meant adding a bit more warmth in the photo and not over saturating the blues.

The Canadian Airforce had many aircraft on dispaly as they were celebrating a huge birthday which was there formation 100 years ago back in 1924. One of the aircraft that stood out which you coukld’t miss was this rescue aircraft which was in this gorgeous yellow paint scheme.

Let the displays begin…
The displays began at 10:00am and starting it off was the Royal Air Force Falcons team. They jumped out of a C-17 flown from RAF Brize Norton and then they popped smoke on from the heals of there feet and drew some awesome patterns in the sky.
If you look at it closely the parachute team looks like they are drawing hearts in the sky.
Date-19th July 2024
This quickly made its way into my top 30 of 2023 and then made its way into my top 50 of all time. I loved the vortex circles that they produced.
Date-19th July 2024
Having the Sigma 150-600mm lens was a blessing (maybe not for my arms afterwards). It meant that I could capture the parachute team from quite far away became of the focal length of the lens. You can see how close the team is to each other as they put on this daring display to the crowd.
Date-19th July 2024
We haven’t seen too much of ‘hint of colour’ throughout 2024, I think I have been working on a new style for me which is more cinematic but I still like to keep ‘hint of colour’ in the photos that I think works foe them. Example as above the highlighted red on the parachutes I knew I just wanted to make them the only colour.
Date-19th July 2024
Starting off the fast jets was the first of many F-16 fighters. This one in paticlur was sporting the unique 50 years of the F-16. As it was turning on its side it gave photographers opportnities to capture the underneath of the aircraft. This wouldn’t be the only time that we would see an aircraft with a paint scheme underneath.
Date-19th July 2024
Setting a high shutter speed meant that I was able to capture those details like the diamond thrust at the back of the F-16 as it ramped up the afterburners.
Date-19th July 2024
There was some truly awesome paint schemes on the displaying aircraft at RIAT. This being one of them, the German Eurofighter Typhoon in this beautiful tiger livery as it displays on it’s side for the crowd to see.
Date-19th July 2024
Date-19th July 2024
As mentioned it was the anniversary of the formation of NATO which was formed back 80 years ago. They had a whole bunch of aircraft from many of the nations of NATO.
Date-19th July 2024
They had many F-16s in the fly past and one of them being Solo Turk which of course he loves to show off with his trail smoke.
Date-19th July 2024
They had some solo hawks displays throughout the weekend and on Friday we had this beautiful one from the Swedish airforce. I caught this photo of the hawk with a civil aircraft at 36,000ft with the chemtrails across the blue sky.
Date-19th July 2024
One of the best fighter jets in my honest opinion the Tornado in a gorgeous and funky paint scheme.
Date-19th July 2024
We was treated by the Wildcat display team from the Royal Navy. It is really impressive how versatile these aircraft can move. Mixed with both speed and moving ability they are always a joy to watch.
Date-19th July 2024

They had some of the aircraft in the NATO flypast land on the runway at Fairford. This being the Boeing E-3 Sentry (Which I call dish plane). It is a unique plane with a radar dish onto of the aircraft.
Date-19th July 2024
Returning again is the Italian Airforce C-27J Spartan. If you haven’t seen this aircraft display I would recommend you to search it on YouTube (you won’t be disappointed). The way this aircraft moves especially being a smaller cargo plane there is no other plane that moves quite like it.
Date-19th July 2024
Date-19th July 2024
An aircraft we have seen before back in 2019 was the Spanish Airforce Harrier. It is up there as one of the loudest aircraft (when in hover mode), it does get trumped by the F-35 Lightning because that loudness is on a different scale.
Date-19th July 2024

The start of the show and always a crowd pleaser, The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows. It was a special year for the team in 2024 as they were celebrating 60 years since there formation. They put on quite a show for the days they were at RIAT.
Scroll through and you’ll see some of my favourite shots from the Friday’s display.

Highway to the Danger Zone Part ll..
Day two at RIAT was going to be a full on day. Saturday is always the better days when we go because there is more displays throughout the day. There was a lot of cloud cover which for photos is good (well to me it is). Before the displays started we had some arrivals landing into Fairford.
We had a Swedish Airforce C-130 Hercules coming to drop off some parts to the Swedish Airforce which I just found so cool that they could just pop over and drop parts off and then fly back out.

Another highlight from RIAT was the Qatar Airforce F-15 which showed off some truly amazing movements. Having the clouds made it better to get a clearer shot of the beauty of the aircraft. I love being able to capture the afterburners being lit orange.

You could actually see this with the naked eye there was no editing within the photo, you could see the vortex swirls coming off the propellers from the C-130 Hercules. I found it really cool to be able to see these swirls both in person and capturing through my lens.

A up and closer look of the swirls from the propellers.

Known as the ‘Night Hawks’ it was a small display team of four Hawks, one is sporting the grey livery which is the '‘Night Hawk’.

What I love about and what makes me go ahh in this photo is this.. I love that I got a perfectly timed photo of them one above each other but what grinds my gear is that its not in number order, like my OCD is wanting them to be in 1-4 order but thats just me being me.

A different display from the Chinook Display Team which they showed off what you’d see during an operational mission if they were in an active war zone. They flew off to go and pick up an artillery gun and come back to drop it off on the grasslands on the airfield. The distinct noise of the Chinook is very unique with its double blades and name for it called ‘Blade Slap’.
Have a scroll through to see the display from the Chinook display team.

The Gripen is one of my brothers favourite aircraft and loves watching it display. They had this really cool paint scheme on the aircraft which didn’t cover it all and it looked very subtle. The Gripen has a really cool high pitch noise when it does a high speed fly past.

One of the most gentle displays that was shown at RIAT 2024 these propeller aircraft put on a nice show. They were very graceful as they flow through the air. It was nice to have something a bit slower pace compared to high octane fast fighter jets.

The Royal Navy Wildcats displayed on the Saturday as well and I felt like my photos on the Saturday from this display was better compared to the Fridays one.
Date-20th July 2024
In between displays they had a helicopter which had a photographer in it to take pictures of the crowd line and the surrounding area of RIAT to show the vast area of it all.
Date-20th July 2024
The Jordanian Airforce sent there amazing display team (which I have seen before), this team is absolutely incredible. They use the aircraft that appear in the Red bull Air Race which are super agile and can pull quite a lot of G-Force. They can do really tight turns and rolls which could be harder for fighter jets to achieve during a display.

A display team we got to see briefly last year and it was there first time to RIAT was the Saudi Airforce. In 2023 it rained quite a lot on the Friday and didn’t get a full display but this time we got a much better display from the national team.
Date-20th July 2024
They pop smoke of green and red which I found interesting because I know green is in the the flag of Saudi Arabia but I don’t know where the red comes into play but still doens’t take away from how amazing the display team is.
Date-20th July 2024
Popping smoke of red and green as they curve over the crowd line to show the really cool paint scheme of the aircraft, it is definitely one of the best ones not just from 2024 RIAT but definitely one of the best since visiting RIAT back in 2018.
Date-20th July 2024
Unlike the Red Arrows the Saudi team only fly with 7 Hawks.
Date-20th July 2024

One of my favourite shots of the airshow was the hawks lined up with white smoke being popped.

Introducing a pilot that is just mental at flying, Solo Turk is something else to watch. He moves this F-16 like no other pilots do. He does the whole display with smoke trails coming off wings. This was taken as the F-16 was taking off to start its display.

For one time and one time only was this beautiful F-18 Super Hornet from the Canadian Airforce. Like from the first F-16 which showed the 50 years logo underneath this F-18 has the 100 years logo underneath to show the anniversary of the formation of the Canadian Airforce.

A beautiful fly past of the Supermarine Spitfire and the F-18 as they duo a flypast together showing the connection between the UK and Canada. It was such a graceful flypast as the Spitfire is one of the most beautiful aircraft to grace our skies.

Finally we come to the last display that we watched before we left, the one and only RAF Eurofighter Typhoon callsign ‘Moggy’, it was displaying the World War ll colours. The year before we had the final season of callsign ‘Blackjack’ (Best livery ever) and for this season we had ‘Moggy's’ livery.

Here is a better photo of the beautiful and touching tribute to the fighter pilots of the Second World War. You look at the aircraft and you start to have a reflective moment of those brave pilots who fought I the skies to protect our country from the enemy. This paint scheme is a tribute to those who died in the war and those who sadly we lost throughout the years after the war.

We move onto the final part…
Thank you for taking the time read and look through the many photos in part lll of 2024. When I write these I don’t want to over do it with too many photos as it then could lose interest of the readers but I still want to make it engaging as best as I can.
Like I have stated in September 2024 I went on a trip of a lifetime to California but that will be a written as a multi part blog as there will be a lot of photos and written parts especially talking about Disneyland California.
After September I didn’t do too much photography but I did do my last trip to London and went on a trip to the beautiful city of Gloucester.
Thank you again for the ongoing support and love for both my websites blogs and also the continue support of my instagram as well. I will see you all in the last part of 2024.
